Thank you for a great week at Rotolo. Please find a number of important items and updates to be shared including upcoming events.  Items in this Messenger include: Turkey Trot Information, Freshman Transition Information, Mutual Ground, Coffee with the Principal and Morning Announcements.

The Fox and the Turkey (Sixth Grade Information)

Check out all the information about the annual Fox and Turkey run on Thanksgiving in Batavia. Please click here. All four 6th grade teams will compete in two different categories during the competition.Winners of the race category will be crowned the “Foxes”, and winners of the food category will be crowned the “Turkeys”.  Please see the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry’s website for high-need items. Last year we collected almost 1,000 pieces of food.

 Freshman Information (8th Grade Families)

Please see important first communication from Dr. JoAnne Smith, Principal at Batavia High School. Please review this letter for important dates and information regarding Freshman transition.

Coffee with the Principal: Special Guest – Assistant Director of Student Services, Natalie Assell

Coffee with the Principal is an opportunity for parents to meet with building administration to receive information and ask questions about RMS. Topics include curriculum, safety, technology, communication, social emotional learning and middle level education. We are excited to offer an additional opportunities for families who have children with identified disabilities.  Natalie Assell, our Assistant Director for Special Education will co-host the session along with Bryan Zwemke, Building Principal on December 1st and April 13th. These are great opportunities for families of students with special needs to network with one another and get to know a number of resources available for our students.

Our first meeting, specifically for families with special needs, will be held on Friday, December 1  from 9:30-11:00 in the Library.   Meetings will occur throughout the year. The tentative dates for the 2017-2018 school year are as follows:

  • December 1 (for families with students who have special needs – Topic: Technology Supports and Tools)

  • December 8

  • February 23

  • April 13 (for families with students who have special needs – Topic: Transitions)

  • April 20 (for incoming Sixth Grade Parents)

  • May 11

Sepmer Fi Prescribed Burn Notification

Semper Fi Land Services, Inc. is currently contracted by the Batavia Park District to

perform a prescribed burn of natural areas located at Prairie Path Park (click here for more information). We anticipate performing this prescribed burn between November 1 and December

31, 2017 as weather and site conditions allow. The estimated duration of this burn is one

working day.

Mutual Ground Partnership (Seventh Grade)

Rotolo Middle School has partnered with Mutual Ground to support student safety in regards to Erin’s Law. Please visit our website for further information including an informational letter. The Seventh Grade dates are as follows:

Team 7-1:  November 16 & November 17

Team 7-2:  November 16 & November 17

Team 7-3:  November 20 & November 21

Team 7-4:  November 20 & November 21

6th Grade Trimester 2 presentation will take place on December 11.

Vision Rescreening

Vision rescreening will be on Monday,  November 6th.  If your student is being screened please have your student bring their eyeglasses to school for the re screening appointment.
