Halloween

We want to make sure that you are aware of the following guidelines if your student is planning on wearing a Halloween costume to school. The costume must be school-appropriate.

  • Weapons, replicas, or look-alike weapons are not allowed in school.
  • Students may not wear full-face coverings that obscure a student’s identity.
  • Costumes may not have sexually suggestive comments or create a suggestive appearance.
  • Costumes may not be obscene, racially, politically or culturally insensitive, or profane in appearance.
  • Students may not wear costumes that prevent functioning in a classroom (eg. a student cannot sit or fit in a student desk). Costumes must not disrupt the educational environment.
  • Costumes must not violate the RMS dress code as published in the Student Handbook.

Final costume decisions will be at the discretion of the staff and if necessary, students will be required to change.

Coffee with the Principal

We will have our monthly Coffee with the Principal on November 6th from 9-10am.  This month we will discuss our building processes involving student safety.

National Junior Honor Society

RMS is excited to announce that we will be continuing our National Junior Honor Society program with the induction of new students this Winter. NJHS began in 1929, eight years after the start of the National Honor Society organization, to recognize students who excel in middle schools around the nation based on the five pillars: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Character, and Citizenship. All students are invited to fill out the student activity form and turn it in by Thursday, October 31st at the end of the school day (3:15 PM). To learn more about NJHS and find meeting dates, please see the parent letter and the NJHS Website. Once students are selected through the process of a faculty committee and inducted during the ceremony on January 16th, we will continue meeting until the end of the school year and pick up again in the Fall. Please contact julia.delacruz@bps101.net  with any questions or for additional information.
