Winter
Math and ELA placement for the 2024-2025 school year.
ELA
Students currently in Honors ELA at the middle school will be placed in Honors ELA next year.
Current 5th graders scoring in the 90th percentile or higher in 3 out of the last 4 MAP tests (4th grade Fall, Winter and Spring, 5th grade Fall) will be placed in 6th grade Honors ELA. All other 6th graders will be placed in on -grade level ELA.

Math
Students at the Middle School will follow the Math Course sequence in our course Flow Chart.
Students currently in 5th grade High Ability Math will be placed in Advanced Math in 6th grade.
Students currently in 7th grade math will be placed in Intro to Algebra or Algebra based on MAP scores (60th percentile or higher on three out of their last 4 MAP tests and fourth score is not lower than 50th percentile, will initially be placed in Algebra) and teacher recommendation. Please contact your child’s teacher if you are unsure of placement for next year.
Placement Testing
If students do not meet these criteria, but parents would like to pursue placement in Honors ELA or an advanced Math course, they may request a placement test with this form.
Placement testing for 5th grade students will take place in their elementary schools in May. Placement testing for current 6th and 7th graders will take place at RMS on May 15th and 16th during the school day.
Spring

Placement testing will take place at RMS on July 25th. There will be a morning session and an afternoon session. Plan for 60 minutes for the ELA test and 75 minutes for the math test. To sign up for a placement test, please fill out this form.
