Advanced Math and Honors ELA Placement for the 2026-2027 School Year
ELA
Sixth and Seventh grade students currently in Honors ELA at RMS will be placed in Honors ELA next year.
Fifth grade students scoring in the 90th percentile or higher in 3 out of the last 4 MAP tests will be placed in Sixth grade Honors ELA.

Math
Students currently at the Middle School will follow the Math course sequence in our Math flow chart.
Students currently in Fifth grade High Ability Math will be placed in Sixth grade Advanced Math.
Students currently in Sixth Grade Math will be placed in 7th Grade Math or 7th Grade Accelerated Math based on MAP scores (60th percentile or higher on 3 out of the last 4 MAP tests and the fourth score not lower than 50th percentile will be placed in Accelerated Math) and teacher recommendation. Please contact your child’s Math Teacher if you are unsure of placement for next year.
Students currently in Seventh Grade Math will be placed in Intro to Algebra in 8th Grade.
Students in Accelerated Math will be placed into 8th Grade Algebra.
Placement Testing
With the implementation of EM2 and Amplify curriculum resources, there will no longer be placement testing offered at RMS. Instead, placements will be determined by teacher recommendation and MAP scores.
