Incoming Sixth Grade Information

Dear Fifth Grade Families,

The staff at Rotolo Middle are very excited to begin welcoming the Class of 2025.  In order to facilitate this process, we have a number of exciting opportunities for our students and families to become familiar with our building.  Rotolo Middle School is committed to working with students, families, elementary schools and teachers to ensure a successful and smooth transition.

Here is a summary of the dates and resources for your reference this spring.

Upcoming Important Dates

Week of January 11: PowerSchool Course Selection Begins; please wait to select courses  until middle school visit on January 11-12

January 11th and January 12th: Middle School Staff visit Elementary buildings

April 19th: 5th Grade Step-Up Night for Students and Parents (5:30 p.m.)

5th Grade Visits

5th Grade students and their teachers will have an opportunity to spend time at Rotolo Middle School in April.  The goals of the visit are  to welcome our incoming students to the middle school. On this day, students will meet Sixth Grade students and staff, building Administration, members of Student Services, tour the building led by 8th Grade students, and enjoy lunch in the cafeteria provided by Rotolo Middle School. Additionally, students will have on opportunity to open a hallway locker.

Course Confirmation Process

 Step-Up Night Information

Step-Up Night is scheduled for Thursday, April 19 at Rotolo Middle School beginning at 5:30 p.m. PE uniforms will be for sale in the cafeteria for $20. This evening is for both students and their parents.

Coffee with the Principal Information

Coffee with the Principal is an opportunity for parents to meet with building administration to receive information and ask questions about RMS.  Our discussion topics will center around the middle school transition. A parent and student panel will be available to answer questions about the middle school experience. A special session for incoming Sixth Grade parents is scheduled for Friday, April 20 at 9:30.

New to the District (Monday, August 6)

Do you know a family new to Batavia School District that is planning on having their child attend Rotolo in the Fall? They are invited to attend a New-to-Rotolo Family Orientation on August 6 from 9:00-11:00 at Rotolo Middle School in the Library Media Center, located on the second floor above the Main Office.  A brief informational overview will be provided, along with the opportunity to meet other new parents and students new to RMS.

Locker Move-in Day Information (Tuesday, August 7)

Students and families are invited to the middle school for Locker Move-In Day on Wednesday, August 9. The hours for the day are from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.    Students and families can expect during this day to:

  • Locate their locker assignment, set up their locker, practice combination.

  • Purchase Physical Education uniforms

  • Locate their classrooms throughout the building from schedule.

  • Pick up supply kit if they pre-ordered.

Curriculum Night (August 30-Save the Date)

Rotolo Middle School Faculty and Staff are excited to meet parents and families on  Thursday, August 30. A more detailed email will be sent in August.
