RMS administration met with all 8th grade Advisory classes this week, and will meet with 6th and 7th grade teams next week to review behavior expectations for the remainder of the year. Once again, we thank you for your support at home as we remind students about using appropriate, respectful language with all students and staff, keeping hands to themselves, using the restrooms for their intended purpose and not as gathering areas, and remembering to clean up after themselves and stay seated while eating in the cafeteria for breakfast or lunch. We do not like issuing disciplinary consequences such as detentions, in-school suspensions or out-of-school suspensions, but we have, and will continue to do so, for those who choose to violate school expectations. Expectations are in place to ensure the safety of all students and staff at school, and we want everyone to have a safe and fun end to this school year!
Information for 8th Grade Families
8th Grade Dinner Dance Information
We are really looking forward to having our 8th Grade Dinner Dance event! Due to the pandemic, we have not been able to have this event the past two years, so we are hoping that this year will be a special night for our students!
Invitations for the dance were given to students today during Advisory class. Please ask them to dig it out of their backpacks and show you! The event will take place on Thursday, May 26th from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Inn in Batavia. Starting next week, students can bring their permission card and money ($25) to school in the small envelope included with the invitation.
As mentioned above, an RMS administrator met with all 8th grade Advisory classes this week to review behavior expectations for the remainder of the year, and to also explain to students the potential consequences for violating those expectations. In addition to a school consequence (detention, suspension, etc) students may also lose the privilege of attending end-of-the-year celebrations like the Dinner Dance. For those who choose to violate expectations while at the dance, we will call parents/guardians to have the student picked up immediately and school consequences that may be issued will be served at the start of a student’s freshman year.
Yard Sign Pick-Up
For those of you who ordered a Class of 2026 yard sign, signs and yard stakes will be at RMS for pick-up starting next Tuesday, May 3rd! There is a VERY limited number of extra signs that are available for purchase (for $7.50) at the school on a first-come, first-serve basis.
New Information for All:
Teacher Appreciation Week is Next Week!
We are celebrating all staff next week, because even if they are not a classroom teacher, so many of the RMS staff spend their time and energy teaching our students, in one way or another, daily!
Student Participation Idea: Students can show their appreciation to a staff member (past or present) by writing them a letter, an email, creating a Google Slides presentation, Flipgrid video, or in another creative way explaining why they appreciate this teacher and sharing a memory of their class that they will always remember. This message will be treasured by our teachers!
Parent Participation Idea: Staff love to hear kind words and appreciation from you, our parents! You could also share a letter or email with one, or more, of your child(ren)’s teachers (past or present) letting them know the positive impact they made in the life of your son or daughter.
*BPS101 staff emails are all firstname.lastname@bps101. For a list of teacher emails, please visit the RMS Staff Directory page on our website.
