No Shave November: Things Are About to Get Hairy at BHS and RMS
Members of the Batavia High School National Honor Society (NHS) are encouraging staff members at Rotolo Middle School and Batavia High School to let their whiskers flow during the month of November.
The BHS NHS is hosting its second-annual No Shave November fundraiser to help raise money for three cancer-related organizations: Fight Colorectal Cancer, Cancer Prevention Foundation, and St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
Kayla Dalisay, BHS senior and NHS No Shave November fundraising chair, said last year was the first time the NHS held this type of fundraiser and it brought in $1,200 with 13 participating BHS staff members.

How It Works
Each participant will receive a donation bucket from the NHS on Nov. 1. The participant with the most donations by Nov. 30 “wins,” and all funds raised will be donated to No Shave November to help Fight Colorectal Cancer, Cancer Prevention Foundation, and St. Jude’s Research Hospital. A shaggy ’stache, thick beard, or overflowing chops can tip it in!
Last year’s winner was BHS English Teacher/Instructional Coach Jerad Beckler. Mr. Beckler will get a run for his money this year, though, now that the BHS NHS has made some changes to its event in 2018 to make it even bigger.
“We invited teachers from Rotolo Middle School, expanded our incentive prizes for participants, and assigned a student rep to each teacher to help generate more bucket donations,” said Kayla. “This year, we have 24 BHS staff members and 20 RMS staff members signed up—that’s 31 more participants over last year!”
