Operation Warm Toes 2017

Sophie Lindstrom, a sixth-grader at Rotolo Middle School, started Operation Warm Toes last year as a fifth grader at Alice Gustafson Elementary School. Her original goal was to collect 300 pairs of socks for those in need … and she collected 1,275! All socks were donated to the Batavia Interfaith Clothes Closest and Food Pantry.
This year, Sophie has expanded her operation by asking all BPS101 schools to help her collect socks for the Batavia Interfaith Clothes Closest and Food Pantry.
Challenge accepted! Every BPS101 school now has an Operation Warm Toes collection bin, and all sock donations (must be new socks) are being accepted at each school until Thurs., Dec. 21.
“I choose to collect socks because people’s feet get cold and socks are one of the most wanted items at homeless shelters and clothing banks,” said Sophie. “This year my goal is to match last years amount.”
Let’s help Sophie quadruple her goal! Donate new socks to any one of our eight Batavia schools and Batavia Park District locations:
