Today is September 11th, a National Day of Service and Remembrance. On this day in 2001, our nation experienced a tragedy that changed America forever.
We take time today to honor the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost, including the brave firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and ordinary citizens who showed extraordinary courage to help others. Even though this happened before any of you were born, the values shown on that dayâunity, resilience, kindness, and braveryâare lessons that guide us every single day.
As we go through our routine today, letâs honor their memory by lifting each other up, showing compassion to those around us, and taking pride in our community. Please pause now with me for a moment of silence to reflect and remember.
Thank you.

âď¸đ Second Quarter Book Blizzard Results! đâď¸
Eighth grade students in Dr. Woodruff & Mrs. Trilletâs ELA classes turned up the reading heat during the coldest quarter of the year! As winter storms rolled in, Team 8-1 bundled up with books and competed in a frosty reading showdown to see which house could read the most pages and pile up the biggest book totals.
â Hereâs how the houses stacked up this quarter:
4th Hour Slytherin slithered through the snowdrifts with 73 finished books, proving they donât hibernate when it comes to reading! This total is DOUBLE last quarterâs results.
6th Hour Ravenclaw soared through the icy winds with 90 completed books, reading smart and strong all quarter long.
7th Hour Gryffindor charged through the blizzard with 100 books, showing courage, focus, and a love of reading that could melt the snow!
Ultimately, 5th Hour Hufflepuff built the most tremendous snowbank of them all with an impressive 112 books, showing hard work and determination really do warm the winter chill!
đ Amazing work, readers! Youâve shown that no matter the season, youâre always ready to crack open a book. Stay cozy, keep reading, and get ready to see who heats things up in the 3rd quarter!
Good morning, RMS, and HAPPY New Year!
Dr. Wolf here, and I hope youâre readyâbecause we are starting 2026 with some BIG reading energy.
The final results are in for this yearâs Red Carpet Reads, and let me tell you⌠RMS showed up in a major way.
This year, our school read 1,435 Red Carpet stories with 511 students and staff participating. Thatâs 785 MORE stories and 200 MORE readers than last year!
And it gets betterâ10 ELA classes soared past the 200% mark. That is absolutely incredible, and I could not be prouder of our reading community and the enthusiasm you brought all year long.
Alright⌠itâs time for the moment youâve been waiting for.
Letâs reveal our record-breaking runners-up and champions:
đĽ 3rd Place goes to Mrs. Capatiâs 6th hour with an impressive 333%!
đĽ 2nd Place belongs to Dr. Woodruffâs 5B at 363%âWOW!
đĽ And in 1st Place, absolutely dominating the leaderboard with a jaw-dropping 530%, give it up for Mrs. Brownâs 3rd hour class!!!
Be sure to check out the full leaderboard posted near the cafeteria to see where your class landed.
A huge congratulations to our winning class and to the 7 superstar readers who powered through 18 or more Red Carpet Readsâyou are reading legends.
And if youâre not ready to let the competition end just yetâŚ
Grab a few friends and come see me about joining Battle of the Books Trivia Night.
RMS, amazing jobâkeep turning those pages and making reading the main event!

Weâve got one week left, RMS and these Red Carpet Read numbers are incredibly close. We are talking about one or two forms away from being deemed Red Carpet Royalty. Can you get one more form in by next Friday? YES YOU CAN. Staff, donât forget you are welcome to join.

Happy Friday, RMS!
Dr. Wolf here with your Red Carpet Reads update.
But before we roll out the leaderboard, I need to talk to all RMS staff.
Did you know that everyone can join this competition? Not just teachers â Iâm talking about administrators, counselors, maintenance crew, and even our school nurse. If you read a Red Carpet book and fill out the form, you get to choose which class gets the credit. That means you can decide the grade level, the teacher, and even the class period your form goes to.
So as we head into the month of giving, think about which ELA class youâd like to give a little reading boost to!
Alright, letâs get to those leaderboards â and weâre starting with 8th grade:
In 3rd place: Woodruffâs 6th hour with 79%.
In 2nd place: Woodruffâs 7th hour with 100%.
And holding the top spot â again â Woodruffâs 5B with 104%!
Come on, 8th grade â can someone from another team knock Woodruff off the throne?
For 7th grade:
3rd place goes to Lasaterâs 2nd hour at 123%.
2nd place is Christopherâs 7th hour at 125%.
And in 1st place, new to the leaderboard â Capatiâs 6th hour at 133%!
And now, our 6th graders are still lighting up the charts:
Holmesâs 3rd hour in 3rd place with 185%.
Whiteâs 5C in 2nd at 210%.
And holding strong in 1st â Brownâs 3rd hour at a whopping 260%!
Donât give up, readers â and remember, staff, your Red Carpet form could be the one that helps a class take the lead.
Happy reading, RMS!
Congratulations to the 8th Grade Bulldogs on their victory over Herget Middle School on Thursday Night. The Bulldogs played swarming defense. It was awesome to see great communication, ball fakes, and rebounding. Great teamwork! GO DOGS!

Lynchâs 4th hour and Woodruffâs 6th hour are neck-and-neck at 58%!
Lasaterâs 2nd hour and Christopherâs 7th hour are both crushing it at 103%!
And remember that nail-biter from last week between Whiteâs 5C and Brownâs 3rd hour? Well, the tie is officially broken â Brownâs 3rd hour has surged ahead with an incredible 183%, thatâs 20% more than Whiteâs 5C!
With all these ties and lead changes, the big question is⌠who will pull ahead next week? Be sure to check out the full leaderboard downstairs to see the Top 10 ELA classes battling for glory.

Good morning, RMS! This message is for all staff. I am literally emailing you right now â yes, as you listen to this announcement. Please check that email, because an important deadline is creeping up fast. Thank you for tuning in to this incredibly vague and mysterious morning announcement.
- Eighth grade students in Team 8-1 have been brewing up some serious reading magic this quarter in a spooktacular competition to see who could devour the most books!
- Dr. Woodruff is thrilled to announce that 6th hourâs Ravenclaw House cast the strongest spell, finishing with a frightfully impressive 76 completed books in the regular ELA classes!
- Creeping right behind them was Mrs. Trillet & Dr. Woodruffâs 5th hour Hufflepuffs, haunting the competition with 74 booksâjust two behind!
- Meanwhile, over in the Honors ELA graveyardâer, classroomâ7th hourâs Gryffindor House gave a howling performance with a whopping 92 books completed!
- Altogether, Team 8-1 students have conjured up 276 books this quarterâ6 more than last yearâs first quarter total! Thatâs something to scream about!
Great job, everyone! Keep up the FANG-tastic reading, and weâll see who rises from the reading ashes at the end of 2nd quarter!

Happy Faux Friday, RMS! Dr. Wolf here with your Red Carpet Reads update, and what an update this will be because we have 8th grade ELA class on the leaderboard. Dr. Woodruffâs 5b and 6th hour class are coming in hot at 30%, and not far behind are Schaeffer and Chapmanâs 4th hour class.
But before 8th grade starts planning their victory parade, rememberâ6th and 7th grade still rule the red carpet. Lasaterâs 2nd hour is at 68%, Ms. Christopherâs 5C at 56%, and Dr. Gabrisâ 3rd hour at 35%.
That means, in our top three, we have a total 6th grade domination. In 3rd place is Mr. Whiteâs 5c at 77%, and a crazy tie between Ms. Brownâs 3rd hour and 2nd hour at 97%.
Which class will break this tie? Will 7th and 8th graders catch up? Will staff join in on the fun? We will find out next week as the plots unfold. Now remember, filling out one form can make a huge difference for your class. So donât give up! Happy reading!

Luckily here in Batavia, we donât censor books, so to celebrate your freedom of choice, weâre putting censorship on trial in the LRC with our very own display of books that have been challenged or banned around the country.
So come to the LRC and check on the contraband and maybe even get a mugshot or two with your friends.
